Upcoming stuff [Apr. 15th, 2009|12:45 pm]
So, onto non-Matsuri topics.
A-kon is in about a month and a half. I'm not totally sure on what I'm cosplaying yet, but I think I'll have to skip on Haseo because it's just too bulky to where in such a crowded con. I'll probably bring Allen-I need to remake his sword and make another Timcanpy *sadface*. I've also started working on Shion from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni. It's a super awesome anime about a town where mysterious murders start happening. The series is unique, though, in that it retells the same few days in a different series of events. You'd have to see it to know what I mean, but it starts the story over at every new arc and it's not just from a new perspective, it's a different possible chain of events. It's very neat, and my favorite arc is Shion's arc. Long story short, the arcs are between 4 and 6 episodes usually and 3 of the arcs focus solely on Keichii, Shion, or Rena going insane and being the one to kill everyone. I think of those three that Shion's arc is the most disturbing and I guess you could argue that Rena is as crazy as she is, but in the end Rena is redeemed, while Shion is a complete nut the entire arc. I would definitely argue that the most disturbing and just OO stuff happens in her arc-SPOILERS(mild ones): she gets her fingernails ripped off with a torture device-2 of which she rips off herself, she ties Satoko to a wooden cross and stabs her in non-vital places like her arms to make it extremely painful until she dies, she watches Rika plant a butcherknife against the doorway and ram her head against it until her brains are spattered all over the kitchen. Although Rena's arc does have some pretty messed up stuff, so i guess it's a toss-up. Anyway, it's a neat show and I highly recommend it. I'm also hoping to get Mary to cosplay Mion, Shion's twin and we can wear those at A-kon.
This is Shion: i134.photobucket.com/albums/q105/Fushigi-Shima/RENAXSATOSHI.jpg

And the one with the ponytail and yellow shirt is Mion. She has 2 different outfits-the one here, and one with a pink skirt. I can't decide which one to do, but probably this one. We'll see I guess: img2.cdn.crunchyroll.com/i/spire4/02182008/c/3/1/7/c317962bc655c0_full.jpg

Anyway, I'm off to do a few things before work, such as hunt for Shion's shirt. I got the skirt yesterday and the wig in on the way, so it's rolling right along.

Super long Matsuri post [Apr. 13th, 2009|05:19 pm]

[Current Music |The Beautiful People]

So, yeah Anime Matsuri was this past weekend, and I'm gonna write everything I can remember about it, so get ready for a long one. I stayed at Jason's house friday night, and we left from there in the morning with Wendal and Kobe, all of us in my car. We barely managed to fit all the luggage in because my scythe and sword are so freakin big. We stopped and got some strawberries from one of those road-side farmer people on the way there, which were awesome. We got to the hotel at about 2. The place it's in is called the Woodlands, and it's a really ritzy little area. It's basically this compilation of 2 malls, a convention center and a hotel by a waterway. There are gorgeous fountains and lots of nice scenery. It's definitely the fanciest con setting I've ever been to. This is only Matsuri's second year, and it wasn't quite as big as I expected, but it was still a lot of fun. So, I got changed into my Allen outfit and we headed out. I guess I'll just hit the highlights. I got 3 Higurashi figures: Rena in her white dress, Mion and Satoko. I also got 2 little Code Geass figures(Lelouch and the Chinese guy Li Xingke), som epins from artist alley and the fourth volume of the Galaxy Angel manga. Jason's birthday was sunday, so I got him one of the Souleater figures and the Code Geass artbook. I cosplayed Haseo and Allen, both of which were received very well. Allen got more fangirl glomps, but Haseo got more pictures taken. Both were very troublesome to wear, and I'm sure I irritated the crap out of my friends by complaining about them way too much >< I only had one arm as Allen, and the sword was pretty heavy. It was also very hot under the fluffy coat. Haseo's spine was choking me, even worse than usual until I put a peice of foam under it, then it was slightly better. Haseo's armor is so bulky, though, so I was constantly apologizing to people for hitting them. On Friday I went to the D.Gray-man photoshoot. There were only three of us-me as Allen, a Lenalee and a Kanda, both of which had excellent costumes. The photographer was very skilled too, and I finally found the link to the gallery on wednesday: www.flickr.com/photos/mike_boike/sets/72157616698734681/ My Friday took a horribly negative turn when Timcanpy fell off my shoulder somewhere in the convention area and i lost him. It really made me sad because it took me a long time to make him, and I really loved the little guy. So I'll have to make a new one for A-kon. But, on Friday night we were walking back into the hotel Lobby and Jason pointed out that the guy at the check-in desk looked like Quinton Flynn. So I went back out the door and peered around the corner like a creepy stalker to see him, and it really did look like him. I wasn't positive if it was him at the time, but I found out later that it really was, so I wish I had said hi to him. We ate at the mall on Friday, but didn't get to look around very much. Calum got there Friday night. I was too tired to go to the rave that night, so I went to bed. Saturday morning I got into my Haseo costume and we went to Crispin Freeman's Q&A session. So, here's my take on Crispin Freeman. He is very good at what he does, and he sort of knows it. He's got just a little bit of an arrogance to him. He seems a bit detached from the average fan, which I'm sure is partly due to him being so insanely popular. The line for his autograph session was stupid/long. We were actually pretty close to the front, which means it only took us like 45 min. to get an autograph. There were people there for about 3 hours. It must really suck to sit at a table and sign stuff for three hours, so I can't blame the guy for being a little like "sigh" when he sees swarms of fans. But it was dumb cause they originally set the autograph line up in the Q&A room, which was upstairs. Then they moved us (yeah, they moved an autograph line without messing up the order*sarcasm*) down the escalator to the dealers room, then they promptly turned us around and moved us outside the dealers room to an area next to it. The problem with this is that there are tons of people going in and out of the dealers room, so the line broke up because people didn't know where the rest of line was. So it turned into a big mess, but eventually we got our stuff signed. I got a nice glossy picture of Touga signed: www.ohtori.nu/galerie/d/25990-2/Movie_Artwork_06.png He said the picture was gorgeous, and that Touga was great. I agreed and that was the end of that. Hooray Crispin Freeman. Oh, and while we were in line for his autograph I spotted a Machika(like from Immortal Rain!) in the line! I said hello to her and gave her a hug(the only person((other than Quinton Flynn)) whom I asked for a hug from). After that the same guy that did the DGrayman shoot took me outside to get some pics of my Haseo costume. I haven't found the link for those yet, so I assume he'll upload them soon. Then I think I wandered around some. I kept getting stopped every 3 steps for pics, which is always fun, although I think most the people that took pictures didn't actually know who I was cosplaying, they just thought it looked cool. I had someone ask me if I was a dragon oO?  Through the weekend I has several people recognize me from other cons. While I was Allen, I had a couple of people recognize me as Allen from Oni-con, which is kinda odd/cool to me cause I really didn't think that costume was memorable. I had a couple of people recognize my Haseo from Mechacon too. The really weird one was that one guy said "Were you Yuna at A-kon?", which is really weird to me cause I only wore that costume for like 4 hours on Sunday at A-kon, and I was shocked that someone remebered it, much less recognized me in my Haseo outfit which is about as opposite as you can get. At about 4:30 or so on Saturday I went to Quinton Flynn's Q&A panel. Oh man, it was so awesome. He is such a nice guy. After Crispin Freeman's panel, I was really overjoyed at how much more -personable?(it that the right word?) Quinton is. He was just very interactive with the fans and the panel was a lot of fun. One thing I thought was really cool is that someone would ask something like "what's your favorite pokemon?" And he'd be like "hmmm...I don't really have a favorite one. What's yours?" And they would answer "Pikachu". And he'd say "Yeah, Pikachu's cool." It was very cool that he was so relaxed with the fans. I also learned a random fact about voice actors: they're not allowed to accept food gifts from people-so I'm really glad I didn't bring cookies like I was thinking about. After the panel they set up some of the Adventures in Anime stuff to sell that you could get signed (it the webisode series that he does) so I went to get some cash from the ATM. When I came back there were like 5 people besides him in the room, so I was like OO and was kinda trying to sneak into the back of the room, which is completely absurd when you're wearing huge black armor. So he saw me and was like "Are you trying to sneak in back there?" And I was like "yes..." And he said "Come on up here, there's no need to be nervous." So I came up to the front where they were talking for a bit and listened in. Nothing exciting there. Then I got my KHII game and went down to get it signed at his autograph session, It didn't take as long as Crispin Freeman's-no surprise- and I got a picture with him too(see previous post).(I screwed up the font size and don't know how to fix it ><) While in that line I got to talk to a girl about Battle Royale for a while, which was super fun. On the Quinton is awesome thread... On Sunday morning we went back into the Dealer's room, and he just inside the room. Jason went up to him and asked him(I couldn't hear him, I just assume thats what he said) if he could give me a hug. So he did, and he said "it's good to see you again". I did a super happy fangirl dance (after he left of course), and thought that was the culmination of my Quinton Flynn experience. WRONG. Later that day we saw him walking into the room for the closing ceremonies. So I creepy-stalker followed him into the room. Calum was with me, and he asked him if he could give me a hug. I said "No, no! I've already gotten one!" I'm absolutely paranoid about bothering people that I admire, so I'm content to just follow people around like a creepy stalker rather then actually talk to them and risk irritating them. He said "Well, you can have another one. I could use a hug right now." He gave me a hug and said "Thank you" like I had just done him a favor o.o I said thank you too and we went on our way. The super awesome(er) thing about Quinton Flynn is that he can do all kinds of different voices and impressions, but Axel and Reno sound very close to his natural voice. It's not that I only like him cause of his voice, but it was really cool to hear him say all that to me. So, I've turned into slightly less of a Crispin Freeman fangirl and a much bigger Quinton Flynn fangirl. Jason is all like *sigh* when I start talking about Quinton Flynn and get all starry-eyed. I'm sure he's very sick of hearing about how cool Quinton is. Anyway, we went to the Cheesecake Factory and got some awesome/expensive($7 a slice!) cheesecake. I got the strawberry, which I thought would be strawberry flavored cheesecake, but it was plain cheesecake with strawberries on it, which was still yummy. We went back to the mall Saturday night and actually looked around. There weren't that many interesting stores, but there was a cute pet store with adorable kitties in it, and I really wanted one T-T I went to the rave for a little tiny bit, but then I went back up to the room to fetch Calum and got into talking to him about stuff. Then I kinda fell asleep/unconcious. Jason told me later that he and Wendal had hung out in the hallway cause they werent sleepy. In this process they saw Crispin Freeman a few times and discovered that he was actually staying in the room next to ours! I wish I had known that earlier... We also made a friend on Saturday. She was cosplaying from Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles I think, and she got on the elevator with us and stuff. Her costume was cool, and I found her on cosplay.com monday, and asked if she was going to a-kon and she mesaged me saying she was, so I'll probably see her there and Yay! for new friends X3 This is her in the costume she was wearing: www.cosplay.com/photo/1983854/ I only took a very few picture while we were there, but I'll put them up soon. My overall comments on the con: the con was fun, I met some awesome people, the dealer's room was disappointing, but I got some cool Higurashi figures. That's it on Matsuri, but I'll make a seperate post about other stuff. omg, this post got way too long ><

Been a while, people. School os rolling along, and work is pretty good-i mean as good as work can get :/  we have a pretty good time up at FYE. I didn't get to write much about Jason last time, but he's a really awesome guy. He's super smart, gorgeous, and has a wonerful appreciation for art and especially music. BTW, if you haven't seen this you should: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY  I've been playing through Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories remake for PS2, which is awesome-tastic. Axel goodness <3 On a more awesome note, freakin CRISPIN FREEMAN and QUITON FLYNN will be at Anime Matsuri, which I am going to in April. OHMYGOD so awesome. Can't believe I get to meet them!!!

I really thought I posted last week, but apparently not. I haven't posted in a LONG time, I know. I wish I had more time to post. I still don't feel like posting a lot of the things that have happened in the past year, because that's gonna be a very long post, but I will eventually. I switched my major to Art instead of English, which is already proving to be a lot better. The short version of the Matt story is that I finally ditched that bastard in june. As of October 23, I'm dating a really awesome guy-Jason. And not Jason Jones, if anyone is confused. I'll post more on how awesome he is when I'm not in class and trying to type quietly ><. Valentine's Day is coming up, and I have big plans for an awesome day. The society is merrily rolling along, with exactly 200 members as of today. The anniversary party was about a week ago. Problems have been arising with the officers, but thats a whole other story. I'm horrible as usual with keeping up with people, so I haven't talked to a lot of my friends in a while. Long story short, I'm taking a little break from the club this month so maybe I can catch up.

I'm Mr. Brightside.... [Jun. 17th, 2008|11:02 pm]
[Current Mood | cheerful]
[Current Music |Paranoia Agent Opening]

There's a very long story involved with Matt that I don't feel like talking about at the moment, but I will eventually.
Anyway....BAM!

That's right, I got off on a tangent, and it's gonna be awesome. The club is actually planning to have a skating party this summer-you know, like rent out the skating rink. And of course, I've got the perfect cosplay now to skate in. I really don't know if they'll let me take the bat onto the rink, though...It's gonna be fabulously creepy. Does anyone who reads my journal have a clue what I'm talking about?
Eh...here's an idea:

I got the shorts and the black shirt at goodwill today, but I'm really lost as to what to do about the hoodie, cause it's summer so it's harder to find hoodies anyway, but a short-sleeved one?, and in that color? It's gonna be tough...
I've turned into an over-night Paranoia Agent fangirl. It's kinda ridiculous. I'm excited about this limited edition of the first DVD that I got, though. It's got a cute maromi plush with it. But, PA was produced by Geneon, and we all know what happened there, so anything by Geneon is getting rather hard to find. But this edition isn't even in our computers at FYE. It's not on backorder, its just not there, so I'm totally excited about finding it-and it was only $20. And I got a new L keychain <3
I got a lot of work done on Haseo, and I think that the project is finally rolling along now. It took forever to get started though. It does seem like a daunting task, but I intend to do my best!
Today was pretty good, especially compared to last week, so I'm feeling ok ^^
Oh, random info for Mer:
Apparently I have the same birthday as the Japanese voice-actress for Michiru ^^

Haseo!!!!!! [Jun. 15th, 2008|12:51 am]

[Current Music |Train-Bus Gamer Opening]

I finished watching Paranoia Agent tonight OO It was really cool! I'm actually planning to either get a pair of rollerblades to spray  paint gold and/or (probably and) rig up a pair of tennis shoes to where they look like rollerblades but actually aren't so I can wear them inside. I'm thinking of soon making a cosplay of Shojo Bat...mwa haha...Although I've been pondering exactly how much force it needed to bend a metal baseball bat oO? Maybe if I carefully ran over it......
I made a few icons, for once. Eh....I'll try to put them here oO

I'm not sure why they're so big -_-;;
I've been doubting whether I can actually finish Haseo in time for Mecha, due to budget constraints, but I really, really want to try my best! I really want to cosplay him at Mecha! I'm just at a little bit of a loss as far as what basic materials to use goes...
Tomorrow Matt and I are supposed to go see "The Happening", although I'm not so sure that I want to see a scary movie....Anyway... I can't decide whether to do some sketching or go play .hack....

[Current Music |Paranoia Agent Opening]

Eh, I've been working a lot, but I'm in the process of looking for a better paying job, so hopefully that will happen soon. I'm hard at work on Haseo's outfit, too. I've been watching a lot or Paranoia Agent tonight. I think I'm on episode 8. It's really cool. It makes me want some gold rollerblades....
Oh, I beat the story part of GU the other night. I still need to do all the extra stuff, though. The ending was pretty cute, although it felt just a bit rushed to me. I thought the reunion of Haseo and Shino to be a bit anti-climactic. That's not a spoiler, people, you know it had to happen at some point.
There's so many things I want to do, but don't seem to have time for. I want to do some more sketching, play GU, watch a ton of anime, get stuff done for the club, I'd like to see my boyfriend when he gets around to it.
Today kinda sucked cause I lost my change purse with a lot of cash, my debit card, and my driver's liscense in it, and Matt ditched me to play WoW tonight. But Paranoia Agent made me feel a little better, so maybe I'll be feeling better for my 10 hour work day tomorrow. I honestly can't decide whether to suck it up and keep trying to smile or just give up and cry myself to sleep. I know it'll get better, I really do, but right now kinda sucks....Well, it's kinda weird, I feel more..like.....full of emotion rather than sad....It's hard to describe.
I think I'll compromise-I'll cry a little bit while I watch some more Paranoia Agent. A bat to the head might do me some good ^^

So, I watched the first episodes of Haibane Renmei and Blood+ last night. I definitely plan to see more of Haibane Renmei-I liked it lots. Blood+ didn't quite grab my attention, though. It was enjoyable, so maybe I'll get around to it eventually :/. I got back into playing .hack//GU Vol. 3 today, which I'm lovin as usual. I need to do some serious planning for Haseo's stuff. I'm wondering exactly how much wonderflex I'll need.... I'm planning on using it for the shoulder things, but now I'm thinking it may work for the "spine" too. It's not really expensive, but it's not cheap either, so I'm looking into how much I'll need. The contacts are probably gonna run me atleast $70 *sigh* I'm gonna order all that stuff ASAP. Anywho, I've got work in a bit, so off I go.

I know a lotta crap's happened since I posted last, but I honestly haven't felt like talking much lately. Hopefully I'll have time later to post about everything that's happened in the past month or two, but not now.

For now, I have come up with a plan today: there are a lot of anime that  I've been wanting to see, and I'd like to increase my general knowledge for the club and other purposes. So, I'm aiming to watch the first episode from atleast 1 new series everyday for a while, atleast until the end of this month. Here's the list I've come up with of shows that I plan to sample: Haibane Renmei, Last Exile, Rahxephon, ElHazard, Ghostalkers, Afro Samurai, Negima, Basilisk, Kujibiki Unbalance, Genshiken, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann(sp?), GetBackers, One Piece, Gantz, Noein, Strawberry Panic, Shuffle!, The Third, Paranoia Agent, Slayers, Loveless, Tsukihime, Monster(If i can find it), Gungrave, Tsubasa, Claymore, Venus Versus Virus, Blood+, Yami no Matsue. That's what I've got so far anyway. I'm sure I'll think of more along the way.
Speaking of big plans, I'm seriously gonna cosplay Haseo's 3rd form for Mechacon. For real this time. I've started researching wonderflex for the shoulders and claws. I plan on devoting a lot of time to this-actually, not much other cosplay stuff will happen for Mecha so that I can pull out all the stops on this one. It's gonna be flippin awesome.
So, phase 1 of operation watch-more-anime(Codename: Dabble) has begun: Haibane Renmei: NOW!

[Current Music |Haruhi Opening Theme]

Not too much has been happening this week, but this weekend should be tons of fun. Tomorrow me, Matt, Jackie, and Tiffany are taking a day-trip to Dallas. Then the cosplay picnic is on Sunday. I'm pretty sure I'll be cosplaying Sanzo for that, which is great cause we'll be taking pictures on the riverfront. As I keep whining about, Sanzo is the only one of my costume that I have absolutely 0 pictures of, so I'll be glad to get some nice pictures finally. So, I'm working on his wig and armor today before I go to work. I'm trying to reback his armor-stuff with foamboard so that it won't be so fragile. Hopefully I can also add velcro to keep them together, cause they keep coming off of the clasps.
And, of course, Spring Break is next week, so that's cool. My only plans are to get a crap-load of cosplay work done.
O yeah, Temari's fan is all glued together and stuff. I further proved my stupidity by glueing it on backward, which basically means that I have to paint the other side of the ribs. I have mixed feelings on how it turned out, because the fabric is so thick that it makes the wood curve out a bit when it's folded, so its not quite square like Temari's. Because it's so tightly closed, I'm also not sure how easy it will be to fold and unfold. We'll definitely need easy of movement for it, since Mary will be unfolding it constantly for pictures. I'm hoping that once the folds have set for a while it'll be easier, but we'll see.
I also got the paperclay put on Balthier's gun and painted. Now I need to put the sealer on it and add the extra little parts.  Not sure if I already said this, but I've also been working on his wig. His hair is so freakin weird. I think I may have to get Jessi to help me, since she already knows a lot about it. I also re-spiked L's wig, cause it was falling down pretty bad.
Uhhhhhhhhh, I'm gonna go work on that armor.
O, btw, there are now 48 members on the Shreveport Anime Club forums! *happy dance* I'm very pleased.

I'm not dead, I swear.
Uhhhh.....I don't really remember when I last posted, so I'm not sure what's happened since then. Must not be anything too big ^^;
As for the only important thing I ever post about-Cosplay!:
I am currently in the middle of painting Temari's fan, so it should definitely be done for Mary when she comes in town next. Actually, it should be done by....tomorrow.
I'm almost done revamping Balthier's belt-thing. That's a bit complicated to explain, but basically his complex mess of belts will no longer be constantly pulling my pants down. Yay! I also added some diamond-design things to the belts, which is spifftacular.
I have resolved to paint all of the trim on his vest with the same metallic pant thats on the front of his vest. yeah.
I also hemmed the bottom of his shirt so that there will be lots less to tuck into the pants.
I'm finally getting into the cosplay groove again, which is mostly due to the fact that I realizd that A-kon is 2 MONTHS AWAY!!!!
OMG, there's so much stuff to do before then ><;;;;;;; I'm trying to stay calm about it, with limited success.

On an unrelated note, I've been reading the Death Note novel. It's pretty dang cool-I'd recommend it to any Death Note fan.
Brawl obviously came out last night, and I got to play it some with Matt. I hope to play it more soon, cause it was pretty cool. I, however, like to go into training mode and explore things in a new game like that before I launch myself into adventure mode, but apparently Matt does just the opposite, so I feel like I didn't get much of a feel for the game.

Agh,  I gotta get ready for work :P

Shinigami love apples [Jan. 18th, 2008|02:41 am]
[Current Mood | drained]

For the past 2 days I've gone to school in the morning, then gone straight to work from school. I'll be doing a similar thing tomorow. I'm tired -_-.
Reno's wig came in today, and I started hacking at it. I'm really scared while I'm cutting it because i'm cutting off SO much hair. About 80% of the wig is going from bottom-of-shoulder-blade length to short-enough-to-spike length. And spiking it will obviously effect the length, so it's very nervewracking. I also pretty much finished the baton, I just have a few tiny paint touch-ups to do.
I think I'll go to bed now.....
And, no, the subject has nothing to do with the entry...except for the smashing icon.

[Current Mood | weird]

I did a BAD thing today and missed the first day of BritLit and Criminal Justice because my alarm didn't go off -_-;;;;; I woke up about halfway through my second class, realized what time it was, went back to sleep and woke up again at about 2:30 p.m. I hate it when I sleep that much -_-. So, now it's almost 1 a.m. and I'm not tired at all, but I need to sleep because I have class at 9 tomorrow, then work, then more class, so tomorrow will be busy. it's all good though.
Reno's nightstick, which is apparently what it's called, is almost totally done. I just need to remake the tip, because the first one got destroyed accidentally. I painted the world's smallest kanji on it, which says "Shinra" but is SO small. I got my contacts in too. They're very light blue. They tint my eyes just enough for them to look blue, which works I guess*shrug*. We went today to try and find Rude's coat for Jason, but apparently Jason has really long arms, and we couldn't find one that fit very well ><.
I bought a bunch of anime and some manga, which actually was not that expensive due to the extensive use of gift cards. I got: Confidential Confessions 1&2, Hellsing 3(no, we don't have 1 and 2, but I've read them), Key the Metal Idol-all 3 DVDs, Fushuugi Yuugi 1(DVD), Trinity Blood 1(DVD), The whole Final Fantasy Unlimited Series, Ergo Proxy 1 Limited Edition, Speed Grapher 1 Limited Edition. Oh, and I also got a buncha stuff from Suncoast for Animania prizes. It was all big time on sale, and we were about to ship it off to FYE, so I just got a bunch of it. Yesterday I also got a few more posters cause they're 75% off, which comes out to about $2 a peice. I also got Mary a present, which I hope she'll like. The few things of tha tbunch that I got for myself are a Hellsing Ultimate wallscroll, a Bleach poster, and I'm not sure whether i'll keep the Hellsing T-shirt or not....
I talked to Jessi for a while yesterday. We made a few plans for A-kon: I plan on caravaning with her, leaving at about 1 a.m. Thursday morning, and staying until Monday. Obviously not everyone has to do this with me, but that's what I'm doin. It seems like the most likely plan for the room situation involves getting a block of rooms together, probably 2 or 3. So far, just including Shreveport people and Mary, our group has 8 people (in case you care: me, Doss, Jason, Fred, Mary, Rachel, Kayla, Clara). Ian will probably have 3 or 4 people with him, Jessi will be there, and it looks like Misty and her group will be rooming with/near our group too. I'm totally excited about it XD.
I've been seriously thinking about cutting my hair short lately....and dyeing it. I'm kinda scared to though....My hair has been long for a LONG time. I'm thinking maybe I'll just cut it medium length first....one step at a time -.-;;
I painted a picture of Ed. It's not quite done though. I wish I had a scanner ><
Well, i guess I'll go finish Reno's nightstick.....
~~Quinton Flynn is my hero~~
Yeah, that was random......   <3

"you're just too clever" [Jan. 7th, 2008|10:42 pm]
[Current Mood | amused]
[Current Music |Through the Fire and the Flames]

I went to work this evening. Mom picked me up because I'm still car-less. We went by JoAnn's and I got the zipper for Reno's coat. Then I came home, where I am now.
I've actually been working on remaking my Adiemus Advent Children AMV. Mostly because it's gotten so many hits on youtube, and working on Reno's stuff has gotten me reinspired by Advent Chlidren. That whole movie is just gorgeous clips, and they're really easy to use effectively. The movement of the clips tends to match well with music. Anyway, I'm using most of the same clips that I used before, but better quality, better timing, and better transitions. The first time I made the movie, I was using WindowsMovieMaker, which is atrocious and hell-spawn. So, this version should turn out quite a bit better.
I also made what I call the "Ultimate Reno Reference" that has every Reno clip from the movie. Unfortunately, the copy of the movie that i have on my computer is in japanese. Really the only reason that I like the English is because Quinton Flynn plays Reno(and Crispin Freeman plays Rude). So, I've been ripping the english clips to put together. For the moment, I have the clips set to some Dragon Force, which somehow fits oO
Hooray for crazy red-heads!

"I'm still out here!"

[Current Music |A Little Priest-Sweeney Todd soundtrack]

Hmmm...well I'm not sure why, but I've been neglecting Livejournal lately. Put it this way, everyday these are the sites I have to check: the shreveport anime club forums, youtube, facebook, myspace, my yahoo mail, cosplay.com, ebay sometimes, and depending on the time of year either a-kon.com, mechacon.com, onicon.com. So, I'd been forgetting to check LJ somehow...seems like i'm always forgetting one or the other.
Anyway, so here's some news. It;s been decided that I'll be transeferring to the FYE in Pierre Bossier(as opposed to the one in St.Vincent). Also, there will be an Animania at FYE on January the 27th. This will be the first one at FYE, so it will be a new thing for me. The good part of this is that I'll be able to use the stage in the middle of the store, and we don't have to be crammed into a store. But, I'm not sure how the turn-out will be, since it'll be the first at FYE.
So, while we were watching FF7: Advent Chlidren at Suncoast the other day, Jason came up with the brilliant idea of his cosplaying Rude, which of course led me to cosplay Reno, so that's the plan for the Animania. I am SO excited about it. I love Reno lots, and I've always wanted to cosplay him, although I had sort of forgotten that in the hustle about the FF12 group. So, I've started on his costume. So far, I've gotten his shirt and coat, and I thin kI have a pair of pants I can use. I got his goggles today, and I've ordered a wig to style from ebay. i actually needed some more contacts, so I ordered some light blue ones that hopefully will be light enough for him. He has really light eyes, by the way. It was such a pain in the butt to find blue contacts that weren't a sapphire blue. I'm not sure what to do about shoes yet, but the big thing left is his weapon-thing. Hopefully I'll be able to make it. To my eternal shame, I've never actually played FF7, so Doss is playing through it so I can watch him. I feel rather ashamed cosplaying Reno when I actually don't know that much about him, so I'll watch Doss play and pay attention to his personality and stuff. As cool as Advent Chlidren is, it's only a 2 hour movie, so I need a bit more backstory if i can get it.
We got Shadow of Colossus, which I've been playing a lot. I've killed 14 of the 16 so far, and gotten almost every lizard and fruit. It's a cool game, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
We saw Sweeney Todd, and it was absolutely fantastic. Rachel got the soundtrack, so I ripped it onto the computer and I've been listening to it a bit. It keeps making me stop typing to listen to it. "The Epiphany" track is my favorite. For those who have seen the movie, it's the song the Johnny Depp does in the street, after Judge Turpin leaves the first time. "We all deserve to die! Even you, Mrs. Lovitt, even I." For those who haven't seen the movie, go see it. Right now. How can one man be so good at acting and so good at singing? I'm actually turning into a pretty devoted Johnny Depp fan.
When Mary was in town last, we watched all of Firefly and Serenity, which was my first time to see it. It totally lives up to the hype I'd heard about it. Everyone told me it's the best TV show ever. They were right. I've been answering the trivia on facebook, and mostly failing miserably, but it's fun.
I've really been feeling the itch to get back into my drawing stuff. Hopefully I can.
I talked to Misty yesterday about the A-kon Saiyuki group. Well first off, I started a Saiyuki cosplay thread on the A-kon forums on cosplay.com, and apparently there will be another pretty big Saiyuki group at A-kon. Misty told me yesterday that they might steal me for a while because apparently they have no Sanzo. That makes me feel pretty special. It also makes me not want to do the 12 group. I know that I'll have a fantastic time cosplaying Sanzo all day, and I just keep really not wanting to make Fran's costume. I hate that, but I can't get past it. That costume is hard enough to require a high level of desire to make it, and I'm having negative desire to make it, if that makes sense. I would feel much better about A-kon if I only had 3 costumes. I wouldn't have to worry about juggling time for the different costumes, and changing between them. The Saiyuki group will be fantastic to hang with all day. But then again...its 12. I know that Mary really wants to cosplay Fran, and I know that Doss will probably still cosplay Gabranth. I seem to remember Kevin really wanting Mary to wear Fran's outfit, which I find interesting considering that he's not willing to come to A-kon. The debate over whether or not to do the 12 group is wearing me out. Trying to keep the Anime club going is starting to wear me out too. On another note, the Trooper has overheated and left me stranded twice in 2 days. To top it off, my cell phone got drowned and doesn't work anymore. So at about 9 last night, I had to walk to a Chevron on Kings and wait 30 minutes for Mom to come get me. It just annoys me because it happens when I'm out trying to run errands, and I get grounded at home for the rest of the day while Doss is at work. Like tomorrow, I'm off all day, so I could get all kinds of stuff done, but my car is dead and Doss is at work all day, so I'm stuck here. Ugh, sorry to complain. I'm actually not sure what to do the rest of the night... I'll find something to amuse myself. I kinda wish there was something to be working on for Reno, but there's really nothing to sew.We got a nice digital camera fro Christmas, and it's been cool taking pictures and videos with it. I'm excited about using it to take some nice pictures of my costumes. Anyway...

Christmasy-things [Dec. 26th, 2007|10:56 pm]
[Current Mood | glad to be off work]
[Current Music |FFXII Battle Music]

So, yeah, Christmas happened. It was pretty cool. The crappy part is that I was pretty freakin sick on the 23rd, Christmas Eve and a bit on Christmas morning, which was no fun. I got some cool stuff though: the highly anticipated Battle Royale Ultimate Edition 1, some gist cards including a pretty nice one to JoAnns, The Dark is Rising series, His Dark Materials series, and a camera which I plan on returning to use towards getting a better camera. We had lunch at Imperial Cathay, and we went to see Sweeny Todd, which was absolutely fabulous.
On a cosplay note, I've been having serious problems deciding which costumes to do fro A-kon. 4 is pushing it, and 5 is out of the question, so atleast 1 has to go. I was originally settled on not doing the XII costumes, but I've somehow managed to change my mind. Now it looks like we'll be waiting on the FMA costumes until Mechacon. I'm hoping not to get too stressed over Fran. But, we found her shoes today for $3, so that was fabulous. I'll get some patterns done for Mary before she leaves, and hopefully we can get this rollin. The Battle Royale group is a bit of a puzzle. We're planning to wear them on Thursday, but I usually wind up overturning my con-schedule when I get there -_-;;. I guess we'll just see exactly how long it takes to make Fran's outfit.

doo-di-doo [Dec. 19th, 2007|11:56 pm]
[Current Mood | Chillin']
[Current Music |FFXII BGM(Doss is playing it)]

Eh, stuff's happened, but I haven't felt much like posting lately. I put a few pics up in the scrapbook, but here's the one for Mary to see:

This is one of Temari's gloves, which I finished today. They actually look better in person too. They're pretty stretchy, so I'm pretty confident that they'll fit you. Can't wait for you to try them on.
I also got Gaara's new vest almost finished. Once I get some more velcro I can finish the straps too.
Doss's graduation was tonight. Hooray, Doss! Only like 6 more years to go -_-;;
I've been reading the Battle Royale novel, which I borrowed from Matt. It's surprisingly close to the manga. I'm enjoying reading it. I really hope that they'll make an anime for it soon. One weird thing in the book is that they call everyone by the other name than the one they use in the manga, like for Shinji Mimura, they call him Mimura in the manga, but they call him Shinji in the book, so it's kinda odd. Anyway, reading the book has inpsired me to bring my Mimura cosplay with me to A-kon, cause I might want to wear it on Sunday, or really early in the morning Saturday, or some such less important time.
Suncoast is closing, and I've started the Shreveport Anime club. Seriously. The website(which I made) is here, if you wan to check it out: Here
I'm loving being out of school, although Christmas has totally snuck up on me. It's really busy at the mall lately, and the traffic getting there is awful. There's a few new manga out that I want, but can't decide whether to get of not: FMA 15, HanaKimi 21, and Loveless 7.
Anyway, I'm tired of typing, so off I go.
